Ramingstein lies around the border triangle.
Ramingstein is the only village in the Lungau, which lies lower than 1000 meters altitude.
The village lies around the border triangle of Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia, and therefore offers an ideal starting point for tours and excursions in the surrounding area.
The earliest record dates back to 1139, and the village has always been important, what you can see from the castle Finstergrün, the characteristic of the village, the still lively castle and youth hostel.

From the 15th to the late 18th century, mining bloomed in Ramingstein, with Iron Mines, Lead Mines and Silver Mines.
You can watch this old mining and admire the Silberbergwerk that gives a good insight into the life and work of the miners.
Also worth seeing is the colorful tradition in late June, the so-called Prangstangentragen.
