Mountain Sports
Although less known, probably due to less advertising than the more famous valleys, this region is one of the best destinations if you like hiking or mountain biking.
Throughout the valleys there are hiking routes and trails for mountain biking, all well marked and maintained. Various climbing routes are available.
Water Sports
The region offers several pools, including the swimming pool in Steinach am Brenner.
Rowing is possible on the Obernberger See, which is definitely recommended, although the lake is only accessible after a hike up from about 45 minutes.
Do you really want to enjoy the water, then a walk to the Lichtsee is recommended. One of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol.
The Brennersee.
The Brennersee lies at the border and near the Brenner.
Here are remnants of the old Roman road, which was used by the Roman troops traveling to the old Germania.
Even in later times, the Brenner was regularly used by armies and migratory populations.
