Haute Savoie
Summer Vacation in Haute Savoie
One of the most interesting parts of the French Alps.
The Haute Savoie, with its capital Annecy, is an exceptionally beautiful holiday destination. An exuberant and very beautiful nature, but the region also offers many attractions and lots of art history.
A region, which in the north and east borders Switzerland and Italy to the south, and consists of three regions. Chablais, known for its wines, the Vallée d'Arve and the Pays des Aravis.
Especially Chablais is known with well-known and large resorts as Morzine and Avoriaz, which together with a number of Swiss ski villages, are part of the large Portes du Soleil ski region.
Many winter sports but that does not mean that the Haute Savoie is not a destination for the summer holidays. Quite the opposite is true.
It is a special region for summer holidays with a lot of mountaineering. So lies the highest mountain in France in the Haute Savoie, together with the famous resort town of Chamonix.
Chamonix is seen as the capital of Mountaineering, where the Mont Blanc attracts for more than 200 years, visitors from all over the world.
And there are more pretty villages where you can spend a summer holiday, which all have their own character and their own holiday options such as eg Combloux, Flaine and La Clusaz.

Mountain Sports facilities
Hiking and mountain biking in the French Alps.
The Haute Savoie, is without doubt, one of the best mountain sports areas in Europe and everything is possible here.
For example, cycling around Lake Annecy, which is called one of the most beautiful lakes in France, with charming authentic villages and sometimes Italian atmosphere.
And of course the very beautiful town of Annecy, which is on the north shore of the lake.
The Mont Blanc.
Also the glaciers of the Mont Blanc, near, Chamonix are an experience unmatched.
Very nice is also a ride on the slow train Train du Mont Blanc, which runs along many small stations and throughout the Vallée du Mont Blanc.
Do you like some more of challenge, you can climb a Via Ferrata in many places. Also accompanied by a guide, who can provide for the equipment.
Portes du Soleil
Nothing for those seeking tranquility, but for mountain bikers.
One of the most appealing mountain sports, especially in Portes du Soleil, is mountain biking. Les Portes du Soleil is nothing for holidaymakers who are looking for tranquility, but rather for mountain bikers.
You can, for example in Morzine or Les Gets, rent a mountain bike, and just drive along a scenic route into Switzerland. And here are many beautiful trails.
Incidentally, you can hire a guide through among other AlpAdventures and close the day perfectly during a very delicious cheese fondue.
