The beautiful region of Osttirol consists of four holiday regions, and is a bit like a combination of a little Tyrol, Carinthia and the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. A paradise of high standing among mighty rocks of the Hohe Tauern and the picturesque peaks of the Lienz Dolomites.

Mountain Sports
The region is not exposed to mass tourism, yet has great potential in the field of mountaineering to offer. This part of Tyrol is described as a hiker's paradise, a paradise for mountain bikers, and a paradise for mountain climbing and touring in the mountains.

Water Sports
Various water sports is offered at various locations. Although there are no large lakes in the region, the possibilities are very large. There are some very nice fishing options, beautiful wild rivers for rafting and numerous indoor and outdoor pools which have a lot to offer.

Recommendation
The Krampuswalking early December is a very old tradition. Hand carved masks, thick fur and giant bells create an unforgettable atmosphere. In many villages, the center is closed, and that provides assurance that the great tearing of visitors and especially children (who after the Krampuswalking get treats) can look calmly at the Krampus.
