South Tyrol
Summer Vacation in South Tyrol
The best of both worlds, the Alps and the Mediterranean.
South Tyrol is a wonderful combination of the Alps and the Mediterranean. In the northern province of Italy the traditions of the Alps go together with the Mediterranean lifestyle.
A versatile holiday destination, with a great diversity of culture and the Dolomites, Unesco world heritage. South Tyrol is popular with holidaymakers, and that is mainly because of the great contradictions that the region has to offer.
South Tyrol runs from the alpine peaks to a southern atmosphere, offers deep-rooted traditions, but is also a worldly destination.
Nowhere else in Italy, the diversity and harmony of the various contrast are so charming, as in South Tyrol.
A wonderful destination where every holiday is a great success, where everyone has a lot to do, and where young and old will have the time of their lives. In a vacation, you'll still often think back to, and still with great pleasure.

Being active Outside
Hiking and mountain climbing in the Dolomites and the Alps.
A region that is ideally suited for various forms of mountaineering, in which enjoying is important, and where so many possibilities are that a week's holiday is just too short.
South Tyrol for instance has more than 13,000 kilometers of marked hiking trails through the mountains, but also on old country roads and through orchards.
Mountains where you can hike endlessly, where you can enjoy the many chestnut groves, and where you can walk along glaciers and beautiful dark blue mountain lakes.
And of course, other mountain sports are offered, such as the numerous mounteinbiketrails and opportunities for paragliding.
Lakes and other water sports
Adrenaline sports such as rafting and canyoning.
South Tyrol has several lakes and pools, where it is nice on hot summer days.
More challenging are some other water sports available here, such as fishing in wild rivers.
But also rafting and canyoning are offered throughout the region, where you both learn to tame the wild water, and visit spots, where tourists normally will not come.
The best tips and Attractions
Culture and sights.
In South Tyrol, the culture is part of everyday life and that you can not simply as a souvenir take home. That you will need to experience during the holiday.
The culture is not easy to describe in a trilingual region, in which each village has its own traditions, some of which come from ancient times, and some are part of the Mediterranean regions.
Largely, you can experience the culture and traditions in the many museums, churches and castles, which can be found everywhere, but also during one of the many events.
For example Castel Tyrol, which is the ancestral seat of Tyrol, as the country once was, is definitely worth a visit. As is also the authentic Kurhaus Merano, where you still see the golden age of the 19th century.
