Summer Vacation in Tyrol
The unique vacation opportunities in the cozy Tyrol.
Tyrol is a holiday region, which really needs no further description. Everyone knows this destination of winter sports, as this region is one of the most popular destinations in the winter months.
In the summer that is quite differently. Unfortunately not really a lot of tourists come here in the summer months, despite that this is a truly spectacular destination for the summer holidays.
Tyrol offers everything for a holiday in the summer, that beloved destinations such as France and Spain have to offer, only much more. The alpine landscape in summer is very impressive and attractive, and the hospitality is scarcely anywhere bigger.
And Tyrol has a lot to offer for the active vacationer, ranging from hiking to mountain biking, and cycling. Also many adrenaline sports are offered here, including canyoning, in which you seek a way down through beautiful natural monuments.
Moreover, there are a large number of sights, attractions and major events in Tyrol, suitable for both adults and children. A holiday, without even a moment to get bored.
Holiday regions
Being active Outside
Hiking over mountains and through valleys, and other mountain sports.
A hiking paradise. This way Tyrol can be called. . Plenty of scenic hikes run through the Tyrolean landscape, sometimes easy routes through the valley, between two lovely villages, sometimes more challenging and writhing against a mountain slope.
The same is also applicable for mountain bikers and vacationers who like to use the bike or racing bike during the holidays. A good example is the Oetztal Radmarathon, a 238 mile bike marathon with start and finish in Sölden, usually in late August.
But there is more, because the region is also a paradise for the more challenging sports such as canyoning, mountain climbing or paragliding. Such as the possibilities that Area 47 has to offer in the field of extreme sports, at the beginning of the Oetztal, a real adventure park.
Lakes and other water sports
Beautiful lakes like Lake Achen, offer many options.
Water sports has a special position in Tirol. Obviously there are many indoor pools and thermal baths, but the outdoor pools and lakes attract many visitors in the summer months. Almost every village has a swimming pool, swimming pond or there are opportunities in the area, and the facilities are generally very good.
The lakes, such as the largest lake the Achensee, in addition to swimming, often have opportunities for sailing, surfing and rowing, in addition to often very beautiful places to fish.
On the many rivers such as the Rosanna, the Inn and the Oetztaler Ache, in many places rafting is offered. An ideal sport to practicing during hot summer days, and there are opportunities everywhere for rafting under the guidance of experienced and qualified guides.
The best tips and Attractions
Sights and attractions, and the Alpelino Top Tips.
One of the most appealing excursions, is without doubt a visit to the Alpelino Top Tip, Area 47. Although this is not for faint-hearted but more for those who are looking for an adrenaline rush. The Outdoor play park offers opportunities for rafting climbing, canyoning and a beautiful swimming pond with Ski Jumping, but also organizes with great regularity major concerts and other major events.
And so there are plenty of other sights and attractions in Tyrol. Each region has its own attractions and appealing events, sometimes concerts of a music band at the local square, sometimes large concerts with well-known international stars such as in Ischgl.
What you should go see, and we make up only a short selection, are the capital city of Innsbruck with das Goldene Dachl, the Alpenzoo, a beautiful but not too large zoo, Schloss Ambrass, the Hofburg and the historic old town, the Fisser Flieger in the small village of Fiss at Serfaus, the Alpinarium in Galtür, the Ötzidorf and the Stuibenfall in Umhausen, Kaunergrat nature reserve and of course Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens.
