Via Claudia Augusta Travel options
Via Claudia Augusta is a long distance hiking, mountain biking and cycling route over 700 kilometers. Of course you do not have to walk or cycle the entire route, and you can easily do just one or more stages by bike or on foot. You can stay, moreover, in several Accommodations for one or more nights.
There are, if you do decide to go the whole route, several options for the bike or mountain bike to get back to your home, without you having to walk or cycle the whole lot back.
A unique feature is to travel along the route by stagecoach.
Hiking
The route consists of 29 daily tapping of 4 to 6 hours of walking, with a total length of about 600 km.
The trail consists of Forst Road (generally gravel roads) and quiet B roads where there is not much traffic. For the most part the route runs on sunny slopes and follows the original route.
Maps are available at better bookstores, and of course all along the route.
Bike or mountain bike
The route has a total length of about 700 km from Donauwörth over the Alps to Altino near Venice, or Ostiglia on the Po.
The route runs on tarmac cycling roads, or gravel cycling roads and quiet B roads where there is not much traffic.
In Bavaria, the route is flat to slightly hilly. In Tyrol the route is slightly more challenging, with some heavier increases. With the Bike Shuttle, you can also easily get by in Tyrol. From the Reschenpass the route runs downwards.
On the main route between Trento and the Adriatic awaits you another three mountain passes.
Of course you can, on the bike or mountain bike, ride just parts of the route, and many Accommodations along the route have an opportunity for safe storage of the bikes.

Stagecoach
A unique opportunity to admire the scenic route and the surrounding countryside is by Stagecoach. 8 to 10 persons can enjoy this adventurous journey. There are two routes of Landsberg am Lech over the Alps to Bolzano, and from the Entschtal to Altino near Venice.
