Formerly the village was important, by its location on the main trade route between the Danube and Bohemia.

It is the largest tourism community in the region, and offers vacation opportunities in all seasons.

Worth seeing are the Kalvarienbergkapelle, the parish church from the years 1897 to 1901, the very beautiful Bird Museum and Gallery Treadwells.
