Vacation in Sautens
Sautens is a paradise for children and families.
This little vacation oasis is a paradise for families and children. The village is an ideal base for visits to the surrounding villages, valleys and the many nearby attractions.
De region around Sautens is an perfect hiking- and mountainbikearea, for young and old, although some hiking trails near the village are less well marked, and somewhat steeper than you might expect.
Sautens has two major events in the summer, the Biker Weekend and the Country & Western Festival, while Krampusch in December is very exuberantly celebrated.
These events attract many tourists, but also are celebrated by the locals.
Mountain Sports
High mountains, wild streams en many recreational opportunities are nearby the village.
The area is well known for many outdoor sports like rafting, canyoning, mountain climbing and many hiking routes.
At the beginning of the Ötztal is also the Outdoor playground Area 47, a 6.5-hectare sports and leisure park, with opportunities for rafting, canyoning, climbing and a swimming pond.
Incidentally, in and near Sautens there are three other opportunities for rafting and canyoning, which are sopmewhat lower priced.
Do you want to go hiking or mountain biking, there are many possibilities, in which there are routes through the valley and towards mountain peaks.
Also Ötz is not far, where you can easily go to Almenregion Hochötz by cable car.
A very nice trail, not something for inexperienced hikers, is the Knappenstieg. The route starts behind the Volksschule. You can also take the forest road, behind the Volksschule right, along the Gaistalbrunnen.
Also nice is the trail from Sautens through Haderlehn to the Piburger See.
Water Sports
The Ötzer Ache (rafting, fishing, etc) and the Piburgersee (swimming), Tyrols warmest mountainlake, are perfect places to enjoy different kind of water sports and the surrounding mountains.
The outdoor swimming pool is outdated, but very cozy, and there are plans for a complete renovation.
Recommendation
The Ötztaler Outdoors Parcours (a local climbing Trail / Garden) is perfect for testing your climbingabilities and your physical condition. Here you can even climb across the Ötzer Ache.
The course is right outside the entrance to the village, across the bridge.
In Sautens are not many shops, outside a local supermarket or bakery, and a shop where you can buy the edelspirituosen, locally made fruit wines, which have been rewarded prizes every time.
The shopping centers in Oetztal Höhe and the neighboring village of Oetz, have more shops and supermarkets
Moreover, the facilities for sports are particularly well in Sautens, and there, in the next few years comes a golf course
