Sportgastein is the starting point for long hikes in an region with many huts and cabins, which offer products such as homemade bread, cheese and butter. In the summer months 300 cows, 50 horses and about 1,400 sheep spend the warm days here. In early September the Schafabtrieb takes place with a big festival.
